This student, who is pursuing a course in agriculture, comes from a disadvantaged family with a meagre income. Her father is a daily wager in a poultry farm whereas her mother goes to work whenever jobs under the rural employment guarantee 100-day scheme are available.

A younger brother is pursuing a B.A. course in a government college and a younger sister in a government school. The student and her family live in their grandfather's house.

Until Class X, the student was in a government school but later shifted to a private school. This made her ineligible for the government school quota in professional courses. Eventually, she enrolled in a private college, paying the first-year fees by pledging some jewellery. However, the family has not been able to raise funds for the fourth semester fees in the second year.

After reviews, Aalayam has decided to support the student by raising Rs. 30,000 towards fees.
